It’s hard for us to admit when we’re depressed. It’s hard to admit to ourselves and it’s even harder to admit to other people. We feel like we are flawed or weak . But that is not the case at all. It is a biological process going on in our body that makes is feel this way. Even when depression is due to a situational circumstance it can change our brain chemistry. For episodes lasting longer than six months the research shows the best approach is a combination of therapy and medication. Sometimes we need to get out of the rut we are stuck in, and a medication can help change our brain chemistry enough to boost our mood and get us out of a funk.
